Chipmunk
One species of chipmunk, a ground-dwelling rodent of the squirrel family, is common to eastern North America. Another species is common to western North America and central and eastern Asia. The western chipmunk is smaller. Its fine fur is reddish brown with alternating black, brown and white stripes. Chipmunks carry food in cheek pouches. They sleep in winter but leave their burrows on warm days.
