The first of the Wright brothers’ aircraft designs to be built in any quantity, the Wright Model B was designed in 1910. This model was the first from the Wrights to feature elevators carried at the tail rather than at the front. It was a dedicated two-seat aircraft, with pilot and passenger seated beside each other on the leading edge of the lower wing. The Wrights sold this aircraft to both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, which used them as trainers.
