Designed for the commemoration of many special occasions, this stamp depicts each letter of the word "love" formed from a different flower. "L" was made from miniature poppies; "O" from painted daisies and miniature pansies; "V" from cornflowers; and "E" from coralbells. This popular series has provided many design approaches to the same general theme, including stamps covering both the one- and two-ounce first class rate (the latter for those who have particularly heavy love letters to send). The U.S. Postal Service tries to maintain in its inventory of available stamps one with the design of the U.S. flag. Similarly, the Love stamp continues to be popular among postal patrons.
