This set of four stamp depicts designs of flowers that are cultivated in the United States. The actual designs are taken from paintings by Lowell Nesbitt and are not presented to be specific species. Flowers and flowering plants form an exceedingly important part of nature. They also provide color to the surroundings, whether it be the flowers themselves or their colored leaves. Flowers are used in plantings and in many ceremonies. Their seeds, fruits, roots, stems, and leaves also provide food. Furthermore, most of the animals that humans eat depend upon flowering plants for their food supply.
