Labor Day is a holiday to celebrate and honor working people. It was started in 1882 by the Knights of Labor. Now it is a legal holiday observed on the first Monday in September in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. In Europe, May 1--May Day--is the day on which accomplishments of labor are celebrated.
