Daffy Duck was the second star from the Warner Bros. cartoon studio, appearing two years following Porky Pig. He first appeared in 1937 and, over the years, usually has been the best friend and sometimes arch rival of Bugs Bunny. Daffy starred in 133 shorts in the Golden Age, the third most-frequent in Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoons. Only Bugs Bunny at 166 and Porky Pig at 159 were in more. Daffy was ranked No. 14 on TV Guide’s list of top 50 cartoon characters. Daffy changed in appearance over the years and only maintained his flack feathers with white neck ring. Mel Blanc was the voice characterization for 52 years, a world record.
