Federal Building, Chicago

The Century of Progress issue commemorated the World Fair, A Century of Progress, held in Chicago to honor the 100th anniversary of its incorporation as a city. Its site on the Chicago River was known to early French explorers. It 1804 it became the location of Fort Dearborn. Central design of this stamp is the Federal Building on the exposition grounds.
