Robert E. Lee's finest hour was probably at Gettysburg, when George Pickett's charge was turned back and wounded men came limping back across the field. Lee walked out to meet them and said, "It's all my fault. I asked of you more than could be asked of men and you did your best and it's my fault you failed. It's all my fault."
