Best Friend of Charleston

On Christmas Day, 1830, the Best Friend of Charleston carried 141 passengers on the first scheduled steam railroad train in American. The locomotive was the first built for sale in the United States. This engine, unlike earlier types, had four drivers, a connected pair on each side.
