Chicago’s Comiskey Park was home to the White Sox of the American League from 1910-1990. It also was home to the NFL’s Chicago Cardinals when the team was not playing at another Chicago-area stadium. The stadium as built on a former city dump, purchased in 1909. Originally known as White Sox Park, after three years the name was changed to honor the owner and founder of the White Sox, Charles Comiskey. Re-named White Sox Park in 1962, again it became Comiskey Park in 1976. Modern for its time, it was only the third steel-and-steel stadium in the baseball major leagues since 1909.
