The original “Star Trek” was a television series that run for three seasons, beginning in 1966. Following were an animated television series, six feature films, and eventually four additional television series based on the same universe and different characters. Also included in the Star Trek franchise are many computer and video games, hundreds of novels, and a now-closed theme attraction in Las Vegas. The Star Trek concept was created by Gene Roddenberry, with is pre-production title of “Wagon Train to the Star.”
