Design of this special delivery stamp is identical to the one that preceded it
(only one special delivery stamp at a time is in service because the fee is for
the service itself, rather than based on weight or some other parameter).
The only difference between the two stamps is the color. This stamp was issued
to be used during the year 1893 so special delivery stamps were not confused
with the 1-cent or 4-cent stamps of the Columbian Exposition commemorative
series.
The pervious stamp, in blue, went back on sale January 1894 and remained in use
until replaced later in the year.
