Where "definitive" or regular-issue postage stamps tend to have some sort of
commemoration, similar type stamps for air mail service were far more generic
in design and without specific commemoration.
This stamp design, issued to accommodate a new air mail postage rate that went
into effect January 7, 1968, shows a pilot's view of a runway on landing, where
the runway is made up of 50 stars.
