The ultra-contemporary art of Peter Max commemorated Expo '74 World's Fair at Spokane, WA, which had as its theme "Preserve the Environment." Max is one of a group of artists who had given a new feeling to poster art in the United States. Sheer beauty and excitement, coupled with the realization that such art was collectible in its own right and not expensive, greatly increased interest in posters.
