The U.S. Postal Service celebrated the variety and beauty of American waterfalls with 12 new stamps, each featuring a photograph with the name of the waterfall and state in which it is located beneath it.
The highest waterfall in North Carolina is Upper Whitewater Falls. It is located in the Nantahala National Forest, 60 miles outside of Asheville, and drops 411 feet. The waterfall is also the highest waterfall east of the Rockies.
