Vince Lombardi was born in Brooklyn, NY, and attended Fordham University, where he was part of the famed Seven Blocks of Granite offensive line of the football team. His coaching career began at St. Cecilia high school in Englewood, NJ, moving to Fordham  as an assistant coach in 1947. Next he went to the U.S. Military Academy as offensive line coach following the 1948 season, moving to the New York Giants of the NFL in 1954. In 1959 he moved to the Green Bay Packers as head coach and general manager, leading his team to the NFL championship his second year.  He won three consecutive league titles and the first two Super Bowls.
