Rifle, powder horn, tomahawk, pipe & knife
Daniel Boone was a wagoner on Gen. Edward Braddock's expedition to Fort Duquesne in 1755. Known for his exploits in Kentucky, Boone first visited the area in the winter of 1767-1768. He was chosen to blaze a trail leading to a 1775 settlement in Kentucky under the auspices of Richard Henderson. Boone marked the Wilderness Road and founded the settlement of Boonesborough on the Kentucky River. In the Revolutionary War he helped the Kentucky settlements as a hunter and Indian fighter. He suffered major disappointments after the Revolution. The absence of proper land titles resulted in the loss of his Kentucky lands, and in the late 1790's he moved to what is now Missouri.
