The Deer Creek Falls is a waterfall located in the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona,
Deer Creek Falls has a long history, dating back to 1872 when photographer E.O. Beaman, a crew member on John Wesley Powell’s river expedition, broke away from the group to explore on his own. He was visiting a mining camp when they discovered a waterfall that fell 300 feet into the river, what is now known as Deer Creek Falls.
Deer Creek is very important in Southern Paiute history and culture. Deer Creek Falls carry water from the Kaibab Plateau to the Colorado River. In addition, this place is linked to places within and outside the Canyon. The area was used throughout the year for farming, hunting, camping, gathering, and ceremonies.
