Design of this stamp was a tribute to the people who contributed in the conservation of soil and water, vital to successful farming and ranching. The importance of contour plowing to those who farm and raise livestock and, in turn, the vital relationship of farming and livestock raising to the urban area, was used as the theme of the stamp. Depicted on the stamp is a house, barn, and other farm buildings, with cows grazing in an enclosed area. A pond serves as a background. In the far background is a city skyline, representative of the dependence of urban areas on the products of the soil.
