Commemorative issue American Music Series - Popular Singers
Robert Johnson
One of the most expressive and prolific blues singers and songwriters ever to record, Robert Johnson represented the full flowering of the Mississippi blues style. Johnson, who was born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, was discovered while working juke joints in 1936. He recorded just twenty-nine songs before he was murdered at the age of twenty-seven. Through his unequaled influence on other musicians and on rock and roll, his music lives on.
