Lon Chaney, Jr., tried to stay out of his father’s shadow. He had a college degree in business and was successfully employed at a Los Angeles corporation at the time of his father’s death. He began his film career in 1932, appearing under his own name, Creighton. Three years later he changed his name and in 1929 was asked to audition for the Quasimoto role in the remake of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” In 1941, he played the title role in “The Wolf Man.” Not to be totally typecast, he also played in “High Noon” and “The Defiant Ones.”
