Commemorative issue Pueblo pottery - American folk art
San Ildefonso pot
Southwest culture extends over present-day Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and
southern Colorado.
Hohokam villages of southern Arizona produced pottery decorated with painted
motifs c. A.D. 200. Within a short time, painted pottery became the region's
dominant art form.
Much painted pottery of the Southwest was nonfigurative and used complex linear
patterns for decoration.
