Using the stamp design of the issue honoring second expedition of Rear Adm. Richard E. Byrd to the South Pole, this souvenir sheet further honored the National Stamp Exhibition in New York City. The sheet measures 87 x 93 mm and included six imperforate stamps issued without gum. While the intent of this sheet was for purposes of adding to a stamp collection or to a collection of Antarctic memorabilia, the stamps themselves are valid for postage singly or as a complete sheet. The margin of the sheet is inscribed: "PRINTED BY THE TREASURY DEPARTMENT, BUREAU OF ENGRAVING AND PRINTING--UNDER AUTHORITY OF JAMES A. FARLEY, POSTMASTER GENERAL--IN COMPLIMENT TO THE NATIONAL STAMP EXHIBITION OF 1934--NEW YORK, N.Y., FEBRUARY 10-18, 1934.
