Luca Della Robbia was part of a family of great sculptors of the Renaissance period in Italy. His most famous work in marble is the Singing Galleries, a reliefs of 10 panels representing angels and boys singing and playing various instruments. It was prepared for the Cathedral of Florence. Another of his marble works existing today is the tomb of Bednozzo Federighi, bishop of Fiesole. In his final years, he concentrated on the production of enameled terra cotta reliefs. His Genoa Madonna is produced in enameled terra cotta.
