The Arctic fox also is known as the white fox, polar fox, and snow fox. Its habitat is in some of the most frigid areas of the Earth. It has very thick fur and a countercurrent heat exchange system for circulation in its paws, and a lot of body fat. The Arctic fox has extremely keen hearing and is able to locate precisely the position of prey under the snow. When prey is found, the fox punches through the snow to get its victim. They eat any small animal found, sujch as voles, lemmings, hares, carrion, and eggs. They also eat berries and seaweed.
