“All in the Family” was a U.S. situation comedy that ran from January 1971 to April 1979 under its original name and four additional years as “Archie Bunker’s Place.” The program dealt with issues heretofore considered taboo on a U.S. network television comedy program, such as miscarriage, breast cancer, racism, women’s liberation, homosexuality, rape, impotence, and menopause. The show ranked No. 1 in the Nielsen ratings from 1971 to 1976.
