Jonquil, is any of several yellow narcissuses that came from southern Europe and northern Africa. In the United States, the best-known types are a species named jonquil and a species called campernelle jonquil. The campernelle jonquil is a hybrid bred from different jonquil species. Jonquils bear three to six flowers on a stalk about 1 foot (30 centimeters) high. The flowers’ petals are grouped around a tube about 1 inch the jonquil has bright yellow flowers and sword-shaped leaves. Jonquils bear three to six blossoms on each stalk (2.5 centimeters) long.
