This strip of five stamps not only presents humorously gripping illustrations of five popular pets, but each stamp has a hidden security image produced, “scrambled indicia.”  The process distorts, overlaps, and scrambles images and symbols not visible to the naked eye when viewed on the printed stamp. Those images may be seen over when viewed through a special decoder lens. The scrambling approach is a safeguard for printed items such as security certificates, banknotes, passports, and postage stamps.
