The U.S. Postal Service celebrated the variety and beauty of American waterfalls with 12 new stamps, each featuring a photograph with the name of the waterfall and state in which it is located beneath it.
Sunbeam Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Mount Rainier National Park, Washington. The waterfall is not very high, but it features picturesque cascades of water flowing over a series of rock ledges. Sunbeam Falls is located near the Bench Lake Trailhead, above Louise Lake.
The falls plunge over a small lofty cliff of volcanic bedrock, veiling outward slightly at the top of the falls. The nearby Louise Lake helps to regulate the flow of water down the creek late in the season, but once the winter’s snow has melted off (which tends to take until July), the volume of water in the creek drops substantially.
