Saguaro, Carnegiea gigantea, may reach a height of about 60 feet (18 m) and weigh many tons. The circumference of a saguaro may increase by as much as 20 percent during the rainy season. A saguaro 20 feet high may store more than 100 gallons of water in a four-month period.
